Who are the Interexhange Carriers (IXCs)?

The IXCs are:

• at&t
• MCI (Now part of Verizon)
• Sprint

They sold long distance services prior to the Telecommunications Act of 1996.  They now can sell:  toll-free 800, 877 and 888 services, outgoing long distance, datacom services, web hosting services, internet services, and dedicated private lines.
